School alumni play an important role in growing their institution by being a link for future grads and employers through technology.

Why Alumni communities are so important for Higher Education.

While universities, colleges and schools are facing strong competition, it is increasingly difficult for students to find a job amid continuing economic turmoil.

This points to how important it is to take care of a school’s alumni community, the permanent link between future graduates and potential employers. This is what we are going to discuss today.

Not only do the students want to select the university that fits their pedagogic expectations, they want to be sure they will have the ability to find the right internship during their coursework and the right job opportunities once they have graduated.

As for the universities, they need to be sustainable. This is the reason why they need to promote their training. However, they also need funding. They need to encourage participation in events as well as both subscriptions and donations.

Keeping the link with previous students, the enterprises they work for and their former school is important for promoting the university, encouraging professional training, sharing experiences, and animating the alumni community.

Providing a website and mobile application is mandatory, however, enhancing these applications with communications from chat to video is even better. This is the way communities want to collaborate. Using natural language processing chatbots to help automatically answer most frequently used questions will also make it possible to provide answers after hours.

Announcing a seminar or a round-table discussion, sending invites for an awards event, an internship day, calling for directory updates, subscriptions or funding – does this ring a bell for you?

Have you ever thought about providing a mobile application for a specific event on your university campus including way finding, and being able to start a small video based on the location of your students or sending them a presentation?

Have you ever thought of creating a specific communication in a chatroom-like bubble for the people attending the event where they could share information before, during or after the event?

This is the aim of Rainbow CPaaS, to make it possible to connect people, IoTs and processes like chatbots, artificial intelligence or location based services.

With access to our Rainbow Hub, developers and students can easily integrate communications within web or mobile applications, and even within dedicated software like learning management systems or student information systems.

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise provides a University Partnership Program around ALE technology, including Rainbow CPaaS. Students and teachers who want to enhance their knowledge in computer science, can access development sandboxes and collaborate with experts.

The students will be able to create the right application to animate your alumni community and attract new talent.
