ALE, operating under the Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise brand, today announced that it has partnered with Rave Mobile Safety (Rave), the trusted provider of emergency and public safety solutions that help save lives, to bring schools and state and local governments the technology and infrastructure needed in a crisis situation. ALE will demonstrate how the collaborative solution extends the reach of school and university communications capabilities in emergency situations at Educause 2019 in Chicago, Oct. 15-17 at booth #1839.
In an emergency—from an allergic reaction on the playground to an active shooter on a campus—every second counts. Getting the right information to on-site staff and first responders, as well as others not actively involved, as quickly as possible is critical to ensuring the best possible outcome. A lack of integrated infrastructure can cause delays and miscommunications, costing time as first responders search for the right location or learn important information after they’ve already arrived.
At Educause, ALE will launch its Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Rainbow™ Workflow, a cloud-based orchestration platform that connects the campus to the cloud. Rainbow Workflow integrates Rave’s innovative emergency management technologies to bridge the gap across key stakeholders involved in emergency response, including school leadership, 911 and first responders. Communications and public safety capabilities are extended by integrating Rave cloud solutions - Rave Alert, Rave Panic Button, Rave 911 Suite—with ALE’s communications platforms - OmniPCX® Enterprise, Emergency Notification System (ENS) and its recently launched Visual Notification Assistant (VNA).
The combined ALE and Rave solution offers a comprehensive safety platform that actively detects and responds to a wide range of events in real time and enables a campus to easily:
• collect and respond to incident detection devices, including vaping detectors, panic buttons and gunshot detectors;
• respond to manually triggered events such as 911 calls or alarm pulls;
• collect and deliver information on campus building floor plans and emergency contacts to emergency management staff;
• enable faculty and staff to communicate about safety issues through the course of a day while remaining at the ready to bring in public safety during major emergencies;
• and communicate with stakeholders both on and off campus.
“We are raising the bar on public safety expectations for support during an emergency by leveraging the communications capabilities of ALE Rainbow. We are extending ALE’s reach and communications throughput by integrating the Rave Alert mass notification platform,” said Greg Kovich, ALE Director, North America Education Sales. “Partnering with Rave will help us better deliver the technology tailored to meet the needs of the customers and communities we serve and create safer campus environments.”
“Successfully managing an emergency requires coordination and cooperation from many different stakeholders, from the individuals on site who first encounter the emergency, to the 911 dispatcher who takes the call, to the first responder who reports to the scene,” said Todd Miller, COO at Rave. “Rave and ALE are dedicated to breaking down the silos preventing effective communication and improve the interoperability between schools and public safety in order to create safer campuses and save lives.”
