New agreement provides Foundation for California Community Colleges significant discounts on Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise networking solutions
The Foundation for California Community Colleges and ALE, operating under the Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise brand, have announced a new Foundation Master Agreement that provides substantial discounts on advanced data network solutions from the Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch® portfolio available through AT&T.
The agreement, which benefits all 114 community colleges across California, matches the discounts already in place for Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise equipment through the existing contract for California State University for its comprehensive LAN replacement program.
The Foundation for California Community Colleges is a unique non-profit organization that benefits, supports, and enhances California’s Community Colleges—the largest higher education system in the United States. Working with the Foundation, the California State Assembly passed Assembly Bill 653 which allows the community college system to purchase at the same terms as California State University.
With an existing CSU agreement in place, the new Foundation Master Agreement grants significant discounts on Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch products, maintenance and on training. California Community Colleges, with 60,000 staff serving over 2 million students, now benefit from a single, standardized purchase process, enabling colleges to transform their digital networking systems in a simplified and more flexible manner, with more cost-effective products.
The OmniSwitch portfolio is a complete networking suite comprising campus access switches, LAN core switches and data-center switches, and is capable of harnessing Intelligent Fabric technology to lower maintenance costs, IoT Containment for enhanced network security, and a single universal Operating System for enhanced interoperability. OmniSwitch hardware has been broadly deployed in higher education institutions across the United States, and is already in place in several California Community Colleges.
