SmartNode - eSBC

Enterprise Session Border Controller - eSBC

An eSBC protects the Enterprise Communication systems, preventing security issues happening such as, snooping, hacking, and especially toll fraud, which are major concerns. Also it hides network topologies and protects service-provider and enterprise packet networks from malicious activity, an eSBC may terminate a received call and initiate a second call to the destination entity. This function is known as a back-to-back user agent (B2BUA). The eSBC also provides transcoding for Wan optimizations and bandwidth management.

The main functions a Patton eSBC delivers are:

  • Security—Network separation/demarcation/split domain, intrusion prevention,
  • encryption
  • Interop assurance—SIP normalization towards OXO
  • Voice quality assurance—Quality of service
  • Bandwidth management—WAN optimization, transcoding
  • Business continuity—Network survivability, PSTN fallback, SIP registration
  • Centralized Management, Monitoring & Alarming / Notification
