This article provides information on how to assign the Rainbow Office softphone to a different computer.

All Users with a purchased Digital Line or IP Phone can use the Rainbow Office softphone for placing and receiving phone calls. The Rainbow Office softphone's Digital Line should be associated with a computer for it to have the ability to place a direct outgoing call. 

The computer with a Rainbow Office softphone installed can only make outgoing calls using the RingOut feature if it is not authorized.

● If your extension has a Digital Line associated and you are setting up the Free Rainbow Office softphone feature for the first time, Rainbow Office will automatically assign the Rainbow Office softphone to your computer. Just make sure that you are using your Direct Rainbow Office Number or Main Company Number w/ your Extension Number and password.

● If you are using 2 or more computers, it is necessary to ensure that the Rainbow Office softphone is assigned to the correct Computer Name.

This article will guide you to determine which computer is authorized to place a direct outgoing call through the Rainbow Office Softphone, and deauthorize it if you need to authorize a different computer.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to exit all Rainbow Office softphone used by the extension that you wish to configure before doing the steps below.

User: How to transfer your Rainbow Office softphone's outgoing call capability to a different computer

Users with no administrative access can follow the steps below in order to deauthorize a computer, then authorize a different computer to place a direct outgoing call using the Rainbow Office softphone.

1. Go to the computer that needs to be deauthorized, then sign out from the Rainbow Office softphone

2. Log in to your Rainbow Office online account

3. Click Settings > Phones & Numbers

4. Under Phones & Numbers, click the Phones tab, then click Edit on the Rainbow Office softphone to deauthorize

5. Click Deauthorize this Computer

6. The Rainbow Office Softphone should no longer be associated with this computer

7. Go to the computer where the Rainbow Office softphone needs to be associated with, and launch the Rainbow Office softphone. The system automatically detects that the Rainbow Office softphone on the other computer is logged in.

To check if you have authorized the correct computer, check the name of your computer and see if it matches the PC Name on the Rainbow Office online account.

 

Administrator: How to transfer a User's Rainbow Office softphone's outgoing call capability to a different computer

Administrators can follow the steps below in order to deauthorize a user's computer, then authorize a different computer for placing a direct outgoing call using the Rainbow Office softphone.

1. Have the User log out from the Rainbow Office softphone

2. Log in to your Rainbow Office online account

3. Under Phone System, click Phones & Devices

4. Select the Rainbow Office softphone that needs to be deauthorized from the list

5. Click Deauthorize this Computer. The Rainbow Office softphone should no longer be associated with the User's computer.

6. Go to the computer where the Rainbow Office softphone needs to be associated with, and launch the Rainbow Office softphone. The system should automatically detect that the Rainbow Office softphone on the other computer is logged in

To check if you have authorized the correct computer, check the name of your computer and see if it matches the PC Name on the Rainbow Office online account.
