Delivering a luxury guest experience, the Waldhaus Flims luxury ski resort and spa completes its ‘All-IP’ digital transformation using ALE technology.
ALE, operating under the Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise brand, has today announced the completion of a complete digital overhaul of the luxury Swiss Hotel Waldhaus Flims. The new solution provides guests with access to high speed Wi-Fi and hotel services anywhere on hotel grounds over a single unified network. The full network and communications infrastructure was designed and deployed by long-standing premium ALE Business Partner, Alpiq InTec.
Hotel Waldhaus Flims Alpine Grand Hotel & Spa forms part of the largest hotel park in Switzerland with 142 rooms and leisure facilities for guests. To minimise the physical profile of the new hardware in the 140-year old hotel, it was essential to employ minimal data cabling and Power over Ethernet capabilities. To achieve this, Alcatel-Lucent OS69000 core switches and OS6450 access switches form a low-latency fibre-connected backbone between the data center and the floor distributers in the different hotel buildings. Through the use of hospitality access points, the hotel rooms could be connected via one single LAN cable. These specialized access points act as ‘mini-switches’ which ensure access to internet, telephony and video entertainment.
The hotel telephony was implemented with the IP telephony system Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise. It is connected to the hotel’s Property Management System (PMS), which enables optimal services for the hotel guests, including adaptation of the menu language, wake-up calls, individual invoicing as well as check-in/check-out functionality.
The new solution has been made available to hotel guests at the Hotel Waldhaus Flims at a grand reopening.
