The University of Lleida Spain and ALE are working together to teach students more about SDN technology and networking.
The University Universitat de Lleida (UdL) and ALE Spain Servicios de Telecomunicaciones, operating in Spain under the Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise brand, have announced they are working together to offer education in advanced technologies and capabilities for enterprise networks infrastructures.
The students of UdL will have the opportunity to learn more about SDN (Software Defined Networks) solutions from Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise equipment in the End of Degree and End of Master projects within the Networks and Communications area. Additionally, students will have access to Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise equipment including the Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch® 6860, software and technical support for such developments.
The open developments that UdL students will create as part of their studies could be distributed by UdL and ALE, and could be shared with Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise customers. The students will receive feedback on their work about the end users' experience.
Additonally, ALE will suggest projects for students to facilitate the use of Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise technology with customers. This will allow the students to work on developments in the telecommunications and technology sector, an area most will develop their careers in after graduation.
Rector of Universitat de Lleida, Roberto Fernández Díaz said, “This arangement allows our students of Escola Politècnica Superior to be trained in the practice of their future professional activities. It is an example of how we apply the aid of the companies to foster the University's teaching and research.”
Jean-Clovis Pichon, CEO of ALE in Spain commented, “We are very proud to offer education and specialization to UdL students studying scientific and technical matters. For us, it is one step more in our commitment to the University education and research community."
