ALE launches a complete, end-to-end asset tracking solution that instantly locates people and critical equipment with meter-level accuracy.
Calabasas, USA, April 6, 2020 - Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE), a leading provider of communication, network and cloud solutions, is proud to announce the launch of its OmniAccess® Stellar Asset Tracking solution as part of its location services portfolio. Through cost-effective Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) indoor location technology, people and items equipped with a small tag can be instantly tracked and quickly located on any mobile device.
The system also provides useful insights and location intelligence via historical and real-time positioning data and analytics, enabling a significant improvement of productivity and workflows optimization.
Equipment utilization can be optimized, and the additional costs associated with replacing lost or stolen equipment, can be avoided. The intuitiveness of the mobile interfaces makes the solution very attractive and easy to use, even for non-technical staff, which enables quick user adoption.
This provides the immediate benefit of a quick Return on Investment (ROI) and reduced Operational Expenditures (OPEX), while optimizing workflows and improving efficiency especially in large and complex facilities such as hospitals, schools, transportation hubs, commercial buildings, factories or cultural sites.
The solution uses the ALE OmniAccess Stellar AP1201BG, enhancement to the OmniAccess Stellar WLAN portfolio. The Stellar AP1201BG can serve as both a BLE Gateway for asset tracking and a BLE Beacon for Location-based services, simultaneously. It provides cloud connectivity over an existing Wi-Fi or LAN infrastructure and eliminates the need for a separate BLE infrastructure for asset tracking or Location-Based Services.
Powered the latest cloud technology architecture, the OmniAccess Stellar Asset Tracking solution provides real-time location services along with unprecedented scale and high availability. With a meter-level accuracy and a very low latency when displaying the physical location of a tag on the mobile device, the solution truly unlocks the potential of real-time tracking.
“OmniAccess Stellar Asset Tracking enables you to locate assets or people in real-time from a mobile device or web management tool, and it can track more than just the whereabouts of your assets, enabling analytics on usage patterns and locations ,” said Stephan Robineau, EVP of ALE’s Network Business Division. “Our overlay solution works with ALE unified fabric, including the latest Wi-Fi 6 BLE-enhanced access points, but also existing infrastructure. This makes OmniAccess Stellar Asset Tracking solution easy to implement and especially beneficial for large facilities with many devices and personnel.”
OmniAccess Stellar Asset Tracking and Healthcare : a cure for wasted timeIndustry studies indicate that many hospitals are reporting equipment utilization rates of less than 50%. In addition, misplaced or stolen medical equipment costs hospitals millions of dollars each year for replacement and leasing. As the number of medical devices per hospital has increased to approximately 15–17 devices per bed, the hours spent by doctors and nurses looking for misplaced medical devices is having a significant impact on clinician time and the quality of care. The recent health crisis is unfortunately highlighting the need for hospital teams to quickly locate mission-critical equipment when life is at stake.
Hospitals are faced with a variety of operational, financial and security challenges every day, particularly undermined during with the Covid-19 crisis. By considerably reducing the time wasted looking for clinicians, medical devices or equipment, the OmniAccess Stellar Asset Tracking solution reduces costs, increases efficiency, and give healthcare professionals more time with their patients.
