ALE joins GovTech Campus Germany

Paris, France, 17 March 2025 - Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, a leading provider of secure networking and communication solutions enabling organizations and industries to accelerate their operational efficiencies and competitiveness, has joined the GovTech Campus Germany to support the digital transformation of the public sector and drive innovation. The official admission ceremony took place on 19 February 2025 in Berlin in the presence of Dr. Fabian Mehring, Bavarian Minister of State for Digital Affairs and member of the GovTech Campus Steering Committee, Ammar Alkassar, Chairman of the GovTech Campus, and Christian Förg, Senior Vice President Germany at Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise.

As a French company, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise places particular emphasis on European security regulations and the sovereignty of data and intellectual property. ALE's strategic approach is to enable its customers to operate their IT infrastructure autonomously, supported by artificial intelligence to increase efficiency. The focus is on the integration of network infrastructures and communication and collaboration solutions that connect people, processes and digital entities. This is seen as key to the successful digitalization of public administration.

Mehring was personally invited to visit Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise's headquarters in Paris before joining. For the public sector, Mehring emphasized the significance of digitization: "GovTech is our trump card against demography and bureaucracy - and for democracy." In this regard, Mehring made the point that modernizing governmental structures requires integrating AI technologies while upholding data sovereignty. In addition, Mehring emphasized the need to have the right partners at one's side to meet legal requirements without jeopardizing the ability to innovate.

He pointed out that digital tools should be used to enhance people's lives and expand economic opportunities and that people must always be at the center of all future technologies. "Our dependence on Russian gas in today's markets has shown that Europe needs to pull together and reach for the sky to be competitive and self-determined on an equal footing with Asia and the US in the digital future," said Mehring, outlining the aim of European digital sovereignty considering recent developments in world politics. The new cooperation between Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise and the GovTech Campus is another step in this direction," he added.

The GovTech Campus Germany was founded in 2021 with the aim of making Germany a pioneer in the development and application of digital technologies for the public sector. By bringing together federal, state and local governments with players from the tech industry, civil society and research, new ideas and solutions will be developed and implemented.

With the addition of Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, the GovTech Campus strengthens its European focus and sets another example of successful collaboration between public institutions and the IT industry.
