Roch Muraine appointed Chairman, UITP Committee

Colombes, France, September 5, 2023 - Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, a leading provider of communications, networking and cloud solutions tailored to customers’ industries, is pleased to announce Roch Muraine, Worldwide Sales Director for Transportation, Energy & Utilities, at Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise has been appointed Chairman of the Union Internationale des Transports Publics (UITP), IT & Telecommunication (IT&T) committee.

UITP is among the oldest and largest associations in the world, representing most of the worldwide Public Transport Operators and Public Transport Authorities across industries. 1900 member organisations, from more than 100 countries, make up the non-profit advocacy association. Representing public transport authorities and operators, policy decision-makers, scientific institutes and the public transport supply and service industry, UITP advocates for public transport development and sustainable mobility in urban areas globally.

UITP Division assignments are based on member regions (Africa, Asia-Pacific, Eurasia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East and North Africa, North America), and their specific field of activity (for example bus, industry, light rail, metro, organising authorities, regional and suburban railways, taxi and ride-hailing, and waterborne). All UITP members are part of at least two Divisions. Most Divisions have one or more Committees.

At the recent UITP General Assembly held June 2023 in Barcelona, Spain, Roch Muraine was formally elected Chairman of the IT & Telecommunication committee as part of the Stakeholders Division. The election occurred ahead of the UITP Global Public Transport Summit, the largest Public Transport event attended by thousands of experts and professionals in the public transportation domain. Roch’s tenure will conclude in June 2025.

Prior to his appointment as Chairman, Roch contributed as a UITP member for more than three years. Within the IT&T committee, Roch chaired the “Passenger flow and crowd Management with technology and innovation” working group for more than two years and, in 2022, published a paper on the topic.

Roch is regularly invited to present the results of the UITP committee work to transport operators across the globe. At the June General Assembly, he participated as a presenter and round table moderator at a highly attended session.
