ALE takes part in “Tech Day - University Connect"
November 21, 2025
The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México event brought together IT executives and technology researchers
Mexico City, November 21, 2025 – Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, a leading provider of secure networking and communications solutions that enable organizations and industries to accelerate their operational efficiency and competitiveness, participated in the "Tech Day - University Connect” event, organized by the Connectivity Program (PC) PUMA [1] and the Secretariat of Institutional Development — both areas within the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, sharing the mission of fostering a digital culture that ensures equitable access to connectivity, technological tools, and academic quality.
Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise is actively transforming network connectivity under the PC PUMA project, an UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) initiative that provides high-speed, full-coverage Wi-Fi to facilitate seamless collaboration across the university. The Institute has progressively expanded its network using access and distribution switches and Access Points, all managed via the Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista® 2500 Network Management System. This centralized management platform has streamlined the monitoring and optimization of network performance, significantly enhancing efficiency and security throughout the campus.
The event aimed to promote the projects developed by PC PUMA, with a special focus on the UNAM Institute of Physics, an outstanding example of technological collaboration with Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise. The Institute of Physics' network is entirely based on ALE’s solutions and managed through the OmniVista 2500 platform, ensuring centralized control, high performance, and robust security in network administration. This case serves as a benchmark within the PC PUMA projects, demonstrating how Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise's technology directly contributes to strengthening the UNAM's digital infrastructure.
The event brought together IT executives and information technology researchers from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise executives, and special guests, including Hugo Valdés, Presales Manager, ASTEL; Neptalí González, Technical Secretary of Computing and Telecommunications, Department Head, Institute of Physics – UNAM; Francisco López, Coordinator of Technological and Innovation Projects, Secretariat of Institutional Development, UNAM and Francisco Aguilar, Specialist in Change Management and Training, Coordination of Technological and Innovation Projects, PC PUMA.
[1] It is named after the university mascot, “Puma”.
