The Paula Souza Center (CPS) is an autonomous educational agency of the São Paulo State Government and is linked to the Secretariat of Economic Development. This institution serves 290,000 students in 300 cities with 223 technical schools and 73 technology colleges. It offers high school, integrated technical education and higher education, with over 200 technical and undergraduate courses for the industrial, agricultural and service sectors.

CPS wanted to update and standardize the LAN/WLAN network six years after the installation of the original solutions in the new headquarters of Centro Paula Souza, in São Paulo. At the time, the CPS network relied on: Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX® Enterprise, Alcatel-Lucent IP 8128 wireless terminals, Alcatel-Lucent 4029/4039 Digital TDM devices, core and edge Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch® switches and Alcatel-Lucent videoconferencing.

The new project addressed the increasing demand for network services by upgrading the LAN/WLAN network to improve performance and support new technologies, platforms and protocols. In addition, the standardization of solutions was required to enable centralized management and maintenance.
