ALE connects the 35th BMW International Open

Colombes, France – June 28, 2024 – Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise a leading provider of communications, networking and cloud solutions tailored to customers’ industries, is connecting the 35th BMW International Open, Germany's most prestigious golf tournament, with the latest communications and network infrastructure. The equipment ranges from mobile devices and network switches to the latest Wi-Fi 7 technology. An AI-based service is used to protect against cyber-attacks. It utilizes cloud functions and monitors the network intelligently and autonomously in real time, warns of threats and helps with network problems.

For Bernhard Langer, Germany's best-known professional golfer, this event will be his farewell tournament. The BMW International Open is celebrating its 35th anniversary, with Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise acting as the official connectivity partner for the eighth year. As in previous years, the BWM International Open will take place at the Munich Eichenried Golf Club, this time from July 3rd to 7th.

In addition to Langer, all the top German and other international players will be taking part in the anniversary tournament. The players, media representatives and organizers, as well as an expected 60,000 visitors, will rely on the innovative network and communications infrastructure from Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, that will ensure full compliance with the NIS2 directive throughout the tournament. It enables the seamless and secure use of modern connectivity across the entire site.

The infrastructure includes a communications platform with an autonomous high-performance network of local LAN switches and wireless network with Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 access points, the latest IP DeskPhones with touch screens, including at the VIP customer reception, as well as mobile DECT telephony including alarm options for the organization and security team. In view of the temporary construction with tents and partially open terrain, the hardened switches and outdoor access points from Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise are used in addition to the solutions for office environments to maintain connectivity in all weather conditions.

In the face of increasing threats from cyber-attacks, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise is implementing best practices and technologies required for end-to-end cyber security. For example, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) protects against unsecured devices and content entering the BMW International Open infrastructure. All ALE solutions are certified and comply with the relevant regulations such as ISO 27001 for information security and ISO 27017 for secure, cloud-based environments and others.
