ALE solution implemented at Sigmund Freud University
June 10, 2020
ALE completed the deployment of its state-of-the-art Alcatel-Lucent OXO Connect communication platform at SFU's headquarters and outpatient clinics in Vienna.
Vienna, 3 June 2020 - Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise completed the deployment of its state-of-the-art Alcatel-Lucent OXO Connect communication platform at the Sigmund Freud University (SFU) headquarters and two outpatient clinics in Vienna. SFU started by offering the world's first full-time study in psychotherapy in 2005, and has since greatly expanded to offer courses in psychology, medicine and law. The university has also opened branches in Berlin, Paris, Ljubljana, Milan and Linz.
SFU educates over 5000 thousand students across six countries, so its telecommunications needs are extensive. Yet, until 2015, the private university was dependent on a telephone system that supported a maximum of 60 extensions. SFU reached out to Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise for a solution when it became apparent that this infrastructure was no longer sufficient.
The Alcatel-Lucent OXO Connect communication platform was deployed to better respond to the university’s growing needs and future-proof its IT and telecom infrastructure. The solution is designed specifically for the needs of small and medium-sized businesses, and perfectly suited SFU’s requirements.
Two interconnected OXO Connect servers with a combined number of 308 extensions were deployed at the university’s Vienna headquarters, and two others were installed at its outpatient clinics. Up to 300 terminal devices can be connected per server, including conventional DECT telephones as well as IP systems. SFU has also connected its fax servers and door openers for the parking garages to the network.
“The deployment of the OXO Connect system at Sigmund Freud University was yet another example of how efficiently and seamlessly Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise telecom solutions can serve SMEs in a world ever more dependent on continuous, efficient and reliable connectivity”, said Kurt Glatz, EUNO Channel Sales Manager at Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise
The university now boasts a centralised intuitive low-maintenance and cost-effective communication solution that has greatly improved the capacity of its network, and ensured scalability, ease of adaptation to future needs and lower costs.
Beyond the proven advantages of Alcatel-Lucent OXO Connect for SFU, it was through the recommendation of the long-standing Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise IT partner, A1, that the university first decided to explore the solution.
