Alamo named winner in IDC Smart Cities NA Awards

STATELINE – April 19, 2023 – Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise today announced its customer, Alamo Colleges, has been named a winner in IDC Government Insights’ sixth annual Smart Cities North America Awards (SCNAA). Alamo Colleges was recognized for “A blueprint for building a community of student advocacy services to address mental health on campus” in education. The awards were designed to recognize the progress North American states and municipalities have made in executing Smart Cities projects, as well as provide a forum for sharing best practices to help accelerate Smart City development in the region. Winners in the SCNAA illustrate best practice examples of how forward-thinking municipalities are effectively leveraging technology and innovation to offer sustainable, new services and economic opportunities to meet the needs and expectations of diverse communities. The Alamo Colleges District has created campus support communities to address the academic and societal pressures that contribute to mental health issues (academic stress, familial stress, mental and physical health, financial stress, food insecurity, etc). Thanks to community partnerships that create “braided” resources that are woven into the fabric of the campuses, the district can provide critical services that truly address the difficult challenges faced by students and empower their success.
